Assam, the largest economy in the North East, contributes approximately ₹6.43 lakh crore (US$80 billion) to the national economy and has registered a nominal GSDP growth of nearly 11% CAGR since FY 2016, significantly above the national average. The State is strategically positioned as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia under the Act East Policy, offering a unique opportunity to become a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth.

Over the past five years, Assam has laid the foundation for a vibrant startup ecosystem through Assam Startup – The Nest and the MASI framework, with nearly 500 recognized startups active today. Building on this momentum, the Department of Innovation, Incubation & Startups (DIIS) has initiated the Assam Startup and Innovation Policy (2025–30) under the vision of Innovate Assam 2030 to transform the state into a leading hub of entrepreneurship and innovation in India.
